I stayed at Mudhouse Marayoor yesterday and honestly it was a very disappointing experience. The property is extremely costly for what they provide. The place looks good in photos and on social media, but the actual experience does not match the high price. One of the biggest problem was the food. The options were very limited and the quality was not good at all. For the amount they charge, we expected proper tasty food and better service, but it was quite disappointing. There were no guides and no recreational facilities available. Overall, the stay felt overpriced and not worth the money. Many people visit expecting a premium experience, but the facilities and food do not justify the cost. I would not recommend this place if you are expecting good value for the price. There are definitely better and cheaper stays in the Marayoor/Munnar area.

The Mudhouse is a truly unique place creatively designed with so much love, care and attention. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the mudhouses and also the tree house - both were wonderful in their own ways. It's definitely worth spending a few days here. There's plenty to do - we enjoyed wandering around the stunning gardens, looking at the beautifully decorated mudhouses, cycling through the local villages, walking to the viewpoint overlooking two valleys and to the local river, and sitting by the firepit in the evenings before dinner. It's definitely a place to get away from the busy tourist areas and enjoy some tranquility and relaxation. Ambily and all the staff here are so warm and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The delicious home cooked food is always served with a smile. An opportunity not to be missed if you are travelling in Kerala!

Staying in the mud house felt like stepping into the nostalgia of a quieter time. The calm surroundings, bird songs, and slow, peaceful hours brought a gentle sense of comfort. The homely food and ever smiling care from Devu aka, Ambili, and all the staff made it truly special. We loved the river hike, the nearby viewpoint, and even got lucky on our way back and spotted elephants. A place wed love to return to again.

Mudhouse at Marayoor is truly a unique experience - and those who are wary of tired touristy places will cherish it even more. The location is fantastic - hidden treks, secret waterfalls and rivers, wildlife sanctuaries - ask for it and you will find it. Mudhouse offers the perfect blend of comfort and earthy rootedness in a place like this. The rooms are beautifully made, the property is full of beautiful nooks and corners and the aesthetics are a delight to the eyes - the rounded corners, warm colours offsetting the bright flowers. While the rooms are comfortable, amenities like electric kettles would make it better - and I was told that it's part of the plan. But above everything else, what stands out is the hospitality - genuine, caring and utterly warm. Ambily the manager is a delight - refreshingly candid and lovable, but also very very caring- we felt we were with an old friend. She gave us great recommendations and arranged everything for us. We stopped for lunch on our way back to Munnar after having checked out two nights ago, and was so touched to know that the lunch was a treat, because it had been my birthday a day before. One of the Chechis showed genuine care and was even upset if we didn't eat properly!!! That is true hospitality - straight from the heart. The breakfast and lunch was amazing - delicious and healthy. I appreciated the flexibility to customise the food to my dietary requirements. I would recommend for anyone looking for an uncrowded nature getaway - it's one of a kind! We went to Munnar for two days after and kept missing Marayoor !

Beautiful comfortable mud huts well integrated with the surrounding nature. Outstanding attentive staff. Some constructive comments: - more amenities in the hotel (a pool!) - price is relatively high so hope the staff are paid well - men's massage was pricey and not really value for money for the quality and I didn't really like wearing the paper loin cloth (perhaps I'm too prudish) - maybe send a WhatsApp summary of things to do in the area
